Dr Deng Wenjing, Associate Professor at the Department of Science and Environmental Studies, has been named as an Outstanding Member of the Youth Working Committee of the Soil Science Society of China (SSSC). The award acknowledges young researchers who have made significant impact internationally and have shown the drive and potential to attain world-leading status in the field of Environmental and Soil Science. She has been an executive board committee member of the Society since 2019.

The SSSC was founded in 1945. It is an academic society dedicated to bringing together and organising professionals in soil science and technology workers nationwide. Its primary objectives include facilitating diverse academic activities, promoting the dissemination of soil science knowledge, enhancing soil quality, and protecting food safety and human health.
